Gullu Singh, JD

Residential Retreat Teacher

Gulwinder “Gullu” Singh is a corporate real estate attorney and dedicated Dharma practitioner. He teaches both secular and Buddhist classes, groups and retreats. He has taught mindfulness at universities, in law firms, bar associations and corporate settings. He is a graduate the 4-year Spirit Rock Teacher Training Program and qualified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. He is core faculty of the Spirit Rock Dedicated Practitioner Program, core faculty of the Mindfulness in Law Teacher Training and a mentor in the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program. Gullu is deeply inspired to share meditation in the legal and corporate community as an antidote to stress, a way to cope more effectively with the challenges of work and life and to inject more sanity, compassion and wisdom into this world.

Sometimes life becomes a never-ending quest for the perfect set of conditions where everything is just right. Part of maturity in this practice is the realization that there is no set of lasting perfect conditions. A deep self-acceptance can emerge when we stop measuring every moment against some imaginary perfect moment, and just appreciate what’s here.

Steadying the Heart: Refuge through the Four Sublime States

Registration Open. The Buddhist path cultivates four transformative qualities that can be developed into steadfast dwelling places for the heart: kindness, compassion, joy, and balance. Known as the brahmavihāras, these states can be powerful supports for deepening concentration and insight on the contemplative path and responding to suffering. Throughout this retreat, we will explore techniques to develop each of these states, and release the obstacles that hinder us from living a full life and responding meaningfully to the needs of our world.

This is How Civilizations Heal: The Alchemy of the Three Poisons - A BIPOC Retreat

Open to all self-identified BIPOC.

Registration Open. The three poisons—greed, aversion, and delusion—are mind states that cloud the heart and mind. However, by clearly recognizing the three poisons, we can meet them with their antidotes of generosity, mettā, and wisdom. Generosity expands our ability to feel connected and reminds us that we belong to each other. Mettā opens the heart, protecting us from both inner and outer harm, while wisdom allows us to see things right sized as we move through the world.
