Part of our work as we dive into the earth element is healing our relationship with nature. We have lost parts of ourselves that we must retrieve. As my mother said to me, “the environment is not somewhere else—it’s here.” It’s here. When we become intimate with it with our awareness, the Earth is an incredible teacher. The earth is mother not as an identity but as an activity. We can learn from what the Earth does and its mothering. And we can emulate that in our relationship with other beings, and in our relationship with ourselves.
