What if we never closed ourselves off to mettā, but always had an open door towards it? It takes a courageous heart. So when we feel that our bodies, hearts, and minds are being gripped and colonized by fear and rage, we can turn towards this practice as a refuge, to protect us so we don’t get swallowed up.
