Sayadaw U Jagara
U Jagara was born in Canada and studied music, together with philosophy, at university. He started meditation practice in the early seventies, with Mr. Robert Hover, and then joined the first retreats at IMS Barre, offered by Mr. Goldstein and Mr. Kornfield. Jack’s book “The living Buddhist Masters” triggered his deep interest to follow a path of serious commitment and practice. He then embarked on a journey to Asia which lasted for 40 years, mostly in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand and India. The monastic encounter, environment and seclusion gave him the space necessary for some maturity and, with that experience, he has been keen to share his simple knowledge with whomever comes into his life. Some years ago, he also assisted the Pha Auk Sayadaw in most of his courses in Europe and America.
