Meal Dana - Online Giving
An Invitation to Practice Generosity and Wise Speech
We invite you to participate in the heart-opening practice of extending meal dana—the offering of meals to spiritual practitioners—that has been around since the time of the Buddha, and a tradition that is very much alive and flourishing in many parts of Asia. In honor of the practices of the monastic tradition, we extend the opportunity to offer a single meal, or a day of meals, in support of the practiticioners and teachers on retreat at Spirit Rock, and the staff whose work supports the Dharma.
Meal Dana is offered as an act of generosity and often is a way to celebrate a birthday, honor someone, or commemorate one of life's many milestones. It can be a lovely way to support and surprise a friend or loved one that is sitting retreat, or honor your teachers. If you have sat retreat here at Spirit Rock, you may know the joy of seeing an offering by a fellow practitioner announced on the board in the dining hall. Now you may participate in this lovely act throughout the year, not only while on retreat.
Your written dedication (see form below) will be posted on our Meal Dana board displayed in our dining room during the time frame you select (all efforts will be made to honor the day you specify). Dedications are acknowledged with your name or can be anonymous. If you have no special dedication and are open to having your name acknowledged, we will post a dedication including your name, city and state that might read: “This meal is offered by Ellen Burke, of San Francisco, CA.”
If you or your group of friends and fellow practitioners would like to offer Meal Dana, please fill out the form below.
To provide multiple days of meals, or for questions about giving to Spirit Rock or about online donations for Meal Dana, contact Bobbi Perez, (415) 488-0164 ext. 283 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
May your generosity benefit all!
