Important Details for Participants in the SF Pride Parade this Sunday!

We're so glad you'll be marching with the Spirit Rock and East Bay Meditation Center Buddhist contingent in the SF Pride Parade on Sunday. We're looking forward to walking together with Grand Marshals Larry Yang and Fresh! White in support of this year's Parade theme, "For Racial and Economic Justice."

We will be assembling on Spear Street between Market and Mission. Please take time to view this 10-minute video created by the Parade organizers so that you will know what to expect upon arriving at our assembly site and when dispersing at the end of the parade. The information below about where and when we are assembling will make much more sense if you watch the video.

Details for Assembling:

  • Assembly Area 038, Section J1, Spear between Market & Mission
  • Marchers should be in place by 11:00 am
  • Approximate step-off time onto Market Street is 11:35 am-12:35 pm

It appears that we are in the first third of the Parade line-up. Although we can't predict the exact time when we will reach the Parade dispersal point, we're likely to finish up by mid-afternoon.

Parade organizers are encouraging everyone to use public transportation to get to the Parade. However, if you need to drive, SF Pride has partnered with Parking Panda to reserve parking spaces in nearby garages. Go to SFPride.org/parking/ to reserve a parking place.

We have a trolley in our contingent, but hopping on and off the trolley isn't permitted by the Parade organizers. If you think you may need to ride on the trolley, please contact Kathryn Arnold to reserve a seat. The trolley will be in the assembly area by 9:30. If some of the people in your personal group are riding in the trolley and some are marching, be aware that at the end of the Parade you will be steered in different directions by Parade officials, another reason why it's important that you watch the video. You will need to plan a rendezvous point.

Don't forget that San Francisco Zen Center is hosting a post-Parade "Proud and Peaceful" sit from 4:30 to 5:30 pm that will be led by Larry Yang and Tova Green, co-founder of SFZC Queer Dharma. We hope you'll be able to join us at the Zen Center (300 Page St.) for this chance to practice together for the benefit of all beings.

Finally, please remember to bring water and sunscreen and wear comfortable walking shoes!
