Join us in celebrating our capacity for deep knowing as illustrated in the life and teachings of Ruth Denison, pioneer Vipassana teacher and expressed in the feature-length film, Ruth Denison: The Silent Dance of Life by filmmaker Aleksandra Kumorek. In our morning practice, we will experience the power of Ruth’s teachings — mindfulness of body, care for the environment, penetration into the first Noble Truth of suffering — and access the radiant joy that she was known for.

In the afternoon we will hear stories of Ruth’s singular teaching style and original personality from several of her students and Dharma heirs, followed by a screening of the film. This is not simply a documentary about Ruth but is a meditation that will allow you to experience the silence and slow pace of the Mojave Desert, the site of Ruth’s unique retreat center Dhamma Dena Desert Vipassana Center, to feel the interconnectedness of all existence, and be part of the “silent dance of life.”

Note: The showing will be the American premiere of the film.

Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited income) are invited to attend this day for $45.
