Compassion and emptiness describe the deep responsive capacity and wise perspective of the heart-mind. They are complementary ways to understand how we can relate lovingly and skillfully to our experience of the world in both its inner and outer aspects.

Compassion provides both a pathway and a response to help us come out of contention with the realities of existence. It also supports us in relaxing into the recognition of emptiness – seeing the inherently changing and non-separate nature of things.

The transcendent wisdom of emptiness frees us from fear, distorted perceptions and suffering. When we recognize that everything is empty of separate self-nature, we are freed from boundary making and from burden. In this openness where there is no division between self and other, the heart’s natural expression is love and compassion. We can recognize the truth of the ultimate emptiness of all conditioned things yet maintain our relational understanding and responsiveness in which human warmth and compassion can find expression in practical acts.

This daylong will include guided meditations, Dhamma reflections and Q&A opportunities. All are welcome.

Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited income) are invited to attend this day for $45.
