Retreat Registration Information

How to Register for a Residential Retreat

 Most of our retreats can be applied for online.  We also accept applications for a retreat  by fax (415.488.1026) or by mail (SRMC Registrars, PO Box 169, Woodacre, CA 94973).

We process applications for residential retreats in order by date received, or by lottery where applicable.

Registration opens 4 months before the retreat begins or 5 months before for lottery retreats. For longer retreats of 4-8 weeks, registration opens 6 months prior to the start of the retreat. The open date is listed on the retreat description.

Print out the registration forms, fill them out and send to the registrar with your payment. A credit card form is provided if you wish to pay by Visa or Mastercard. Make checks payable to SRMC.

If you cannot download the forms, you can either send an email to retreats@spiritrock.org or call the registration department  at (415) 488-0164.

Once your forms have been received and processed, you will receive a confirmation by email with several documents attached. (Please note that by emailing the confirmations Spirit Rock Meditation Center saves printing and postage costs. Should you want the confirmation packet mailed to you, please indicate on the registration form where you would like it mailed.) Please read all the information.

Important: your space is not confirmed until you receive an email stating that you are confirmed in the retreat.  If you do not get an email within 10 business days, please call (415.488.0164) or email us retreats@spiritrock.org.  If the retreat is full by the time we receive your application, you will be contacted and given the opportunity to be on the waiting list.

Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation fees are listed on the registration form and confirmation letter for each retreat. Please note that cancellation fees increase the closer it gets to the starting date for the retreat. As of opening day, there are no refunds except for emergencies. Deposits and payments cannot be transferred to another retreat or another person.

Sliding Scale Pricing for Residential Retreats

The fees to attend Spirit Rock retreats are priced on a sliding scale. Please pay at the highest level of the sliding scale that you can afford. This allows others who need to pay less the opportunity to attend.  Anyone who pays above the base price will be making a tax-deductible contribution to Spirit Rock.  We depend upon donations to subsidize about 25% of overall operating costs. Retreat prices vary with program length.


For retreats where we expect demand to exceed available space, a lottery is used to select retreatants. The lottery will open to accept registration forms 5 months before the start of the retreat, and the lottery will take place 1 month after that.  The deadline to receive forms will be on the application form and the calendar listing.   We will notify you by e-mail within two weeks after the lottery about your status. (Commuter spaces are opened if residential spaces are filled.)

To register for a lottery retreat: Download the registration forms from the website after the open date and follow the instructions that are included with the forms. If you don’t have access to the web, call us (415.488.0164) or email us retreats@spiritrock.org and we will send you the registration forms. The deadline for receiving the applications will be posted on the web and on the forms.
