Weekly & Monthly Classes
Most weekly classes begin with a 45-minute period of silent meditation. (As the weekly classes are intended for people with previous meditation experience, minimal instruction is given.) A stretching break and a dharma talk usually follow the sitting.
Drop-ins are welcome at all these classes, pre-registration is not available. Cost $8-$10, plus a donation to the teacher(s).
For the full schedule of teachers for each of these classes, see the calendar listings at the bottom of this page.

This group explores the intersection of recovery with Buddhist Teachings and practices. We welcome all people who identify with any of the full range of addictions, from substances, to behaviors, to habitual thought and emotional patterns.
This is not a 12 Step group, but we look to ways that members of that community can support each other on the path of recovery. Each gathering begins with a period of guided meditation and new meditators are welcome. There is time for discussion about meditation practice and each month a recovery/dharma theme will be discussed.
To support the event and meet like-minded people, we encourage you to arrive early and/or stay after to help us with a few simple tasks. The first four people to sign up to volunteer will have their event registration fee waived! For more information or to sign up, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (415) 488-0164 x224. Thank you!

Join your peers in re-inventing what it means to be old! How can the teachings and practices of Dharma illuminate and enliven our potential for living our elder years with wisdom and compassion? We will use the tools of meditation and contemplative inquiry to explore our actual experience of aging - which may be different from the culture's prevailing notions.
We will occasionally invite teachers of writing, singing, or movement to encourage creative insights. For all levels of practice experience, and any age over 55.

Women have, for centuries, gathered together to knit, or crochet, or tat, or quilt, or embroider, or needlepoint. They exchanged ideas, and dreams, and worries while they did their craft since the handwork was automatic and focused attention rather than required attention. That’s what we’ll do in this group. We’ll sit quietly for one hour--on chairs or zafus, whatever is comfortable--doing our individual craft-work. During the second hour, as we continue to craft, people will be able to talk about what’s on their mind as they would with a group of friends. Note: This is not a craft instruction group: people need to do their own work.
