NOTE: All young adult rates and scholarship funds for this retreat have been awarded.
Being a leader calls on many qualities from us, which can be supported by retreat and meditation. We will be practicing Insight Meditation with an emphasis on developing courage, clarity and compassion.
Our practices will include: grounding ourselves through mindfulness in sitting, walking and movement; silent practice in nature; and engaging in deep rest and relaxation. The beginning and end of the retreat will include small group sharing and writing reflection, while most of the middle of the retreat will include meditation practice with dharma talks, meditation instruction and teacher support.
Important Note: Participants should hold a leadership role in their organization or community and want to bring these practices to how they engage in this role. Since parts of this retreat will be taught as a workshop it is important that participants have some experience of leadership to reflect upon. Because space is limited we will be asking you about your leadership role in the application process and selecting those for whom it is most appropriate. This retreat is not meant as a professional development opportunity for executive coaches or consultants who want to improve their techniques or practice.
Space is limited.
Spirit Rock extends a special invitation to young adults (age 18-26) who wish to attend this retreat at a rate of $25 per night, on a first come, first serve basis.
**UWH=upper Walking Hall = This retreat is designed as a smaller and more intimate retreat and as such, it is held in the upper Walking Hall. This hall is located at the top of a flight of stairs adjacent to the main meditation hall. It is not accessible by wheelchair or scooter. If you have mobility limitations such that you cannot climb a flight of stairs, this retreat is not appropriate for you. Please call the registration department for more details BEFORE you register for this retreat if you have concerns related to accessibility to the upper Walking Hall.
Supported by the ongoing generosity of our sangha, we have begun construction on our lower campus for a permanent Community Hall and support buildings. Our upper campus, where your residential retreat occurs, is not part of the construction. Please refer to the Construction Map for the location of construction relative to the Retreat Hall.
While some ambient machinery sound may travel, it will not be continuous or nearby. Construction will take place during business work hours (Monday – Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm) and on some Saturdays. We look forward to supporting your practice here at Spirit Rock.
