The beautiful and sublime qualities of love and compassion are central in the spiritual life. They are qualities that are essential for our own well-being, and for the welfare of the world in which we live. Though love is innate to our being, we have often lost touch with it both for ourselves and others. Through the Buddhist practices of Metta (loving-kindness) and Karuna (compassion) we can learn to develop and nurture these jewels, so we can live with greater love, compassion and joy.

In this day of meditation we will explore these meditation practices, understand what obscures the heart, and look at how we can bring these qualities of the heart into our everyday life. The day will include sitting and walking meditations, Dharma talks and discussion - suitable for new and experienced students.

Teachings are appropriate for individuals as well as health care professionals. Continuing Education (CE) credit available. See below for more information.

This workshop is designed to help participants:

  • Recognize the relationship between awareness and kindness;

  • Practice the ability to hold experience of oneself or another with a kind attention;

  • Identify the role of compassion in working with themselves and others;

  • Employ the ancient technique of metta which develops the quality of unconditional love.

Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited and fixed income) are invited to attend this daylong at a rate of $25.
