Aversion to anxiety is often accompanied by reactivity and actions that worsen how we feel. We suffer.

Instead of running from anxiety, our focus for this day will be on kindhearted mindful awareness and intentional cultivation of non-reactive attention to this mood state. Guided meditations will be offered as we practice stopping and quieting the mind so that we slow down enough to see what is actually happening internally. The natural state of a quieted mind interrupts reactivity and offers us freedom to discover a compassionate and responsive relationship to this element of experience.

Teachings are appropriate for individuals as well as health care professionals. Continuing Education (CE) credit available. See below for more information.

This workshop is designed to help health care professionals:

  • Introduce mindfulness meditation to clients who are experiencing distressing mood states

  • Utilize mindfulness meditation as a way to teach clients how to turn towards difficult or unpleasant aspects of experience.

  • Apply the exploration of thinking patterns and their relationship to habitual rumination, worry and anxiety.

  • Use action planning to prevent future difficulties and reactivity to everyday life challenges.

Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited and fixed income) are invited to attend this day for $25.
