A former NFL Cheerleader and victim of the Fashion Industry, Booker found her calling to empower youth affected by incarceration through yoga and meditation 2007. She is currently a Senior Teacher and the Director of Teacher Trainings for the Lineage Project, an organization that brings awareness-based practices, like yoga and meditation, to incarcerated and court involved youth in New York City. Booker also facilitated a Mindfulness-based intervention with the adolescent population on Riker's Island for two years through New York University, and has taught with the Prison Yoga Project in San Quentin Prison in Northern California. In 2013, Booker completed her 500 hour in Mindful Yoga and Meditation through Spirit Rock as a Yoga Dana Foundation Scholarship recipient. She is thrilled to be joining her teachers as a Faculty member for the MYMTraining in 2014-2015.
She is also the founder of Urban Sangha Project, a collective that supports the sustainability of front line ChangeMakers through Mindful Yoga, Meditation and Dialogue. She has become a regular presenter at Mindfulness Conferences around the country, and offered her services at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in North Carolina. She is committed to collaborations that support bridging the gap between yoga and grass roots activism. She is honored to be a regular yoga teacher on meditation retreats at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusettes alongside her teachers Sharon Salzberg, Gina Sharpe, Larry Yang and Mark Coleman.
