How do we transform that which is difficult in our lives into wisdom and compassion? This work of transformation is the essence of all meditation practice, and this understanding can be applied to the challenges of aging, with its unwanted changes in the functioning of mind and body. The revelation of vipassana practice is that the very things that challenge us can also bring us to transcendent states of peaceful wisdom and heart-full compassion.

Evidence of real transformation is found in a change in our priorities and perspective, with less compulsion to "achieve," a keener awareness of the preciousness of life, gratitude for what is here and now, and compassion for our shared humanity.

The class will include instructions in mindfulness, dharma teachings, experiential exercises, and group discussion. We will look at the latest research revealing the beneficial effects of meditation on the functioning of the body and the brain, and learn how we can apply this knowledge in our practice. What have you discovered about aging that you would like to share with others? This class series will act as a "living laboratory" of discoveries about aging.

To create a relaxed and intimate container for our explorations, registration will close after the second class.

ISeniors (65+ with limited and fixed income) are invited to attend this class series for $25.
